Showroom Beck & Eggeling
Pablo Picasso, an exceptional artist of the 20th century, was a curious man all his life, always in search of new artistic expression. In a seemingly effortless way, he acquired various techniques and repeatedly found radical innovations in pictorial composition – multi-faceted, vibrant, brilliant. On display are selected works from all genres in which Picasso's almost unbridled creativity found ever new expression.
The extravagant headdresses on the sculptural heads of women by Spanish artist Manolo Valdés, inspired by Bruno Goller's portraits of women, are also evidence of ingenuity. Characteristic of Valdés' work is the adaptive reference to famous works of art history, whereby the painter and sculptor particularly draws on the legacy of the Spanish masters, including Picasso, in his creative process.
