Magdalena Abakanowicz – Everything is made of fiber
April 18 – August 24, 2025
Opening at the TextielMuseum, Tilburg
Thursday, April 17, 2025 | 5:15 – 7:15 PM
The Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930–2017) is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and a pioneer of installation art. For the first time in the Netherlands, her work is being celebrated in a major retrospective – across three locations, each with its own distinct focus:
The TextielMuseum in Tilburg highlights materiality and innovation, while Het Noordbrabants Museum in ’s-Hertogenbosch explores her legacy in dialogue with contemporary art. A special highlight is Bois le Duc (1970–1971), a monumental textile work created specifically for the Provinciehuis Noord-Brabant. Consisting of 19 woven panels over seven meters tall, the piece can be experienced through guided tours, films, and an international symposium.
